Cherwell

Air quality throughout the district is generally good. There are areas of poor air quality in the district where national air quality objectives are being exceeded. This poor air quality is largely related to vehicles on and around busy roads.

We have designated four air quality management areas (AQMAs). Two of these are in Banbury; AQMA No.1 is in Hennef Way. AQMA No.2 is between Southam Road and Oxford Road.  AQMA No. 3 is in Bicester Road, Kidlington. AQMA No.4 is from Kings End mini roundabout through Queens Avenue and Field Street to the North Street roundabout (including St Johns).

An Air Quality Action Plan with measures to improve air quality in these AQMAs can be found on at www.cherwell.gov.uk/airqualitymanagement

Maps of the AQMA boundaries and our most recent Annual Status Report can also be downloaded from our website.
